Welcome to the Department of English……

The department of English started its journey along with the college in 2010. It offered B.A. General degree to the students since then. After NEP 2020 and its implementation in 2023 the Department offers both Major and Minor courses in English. Most of the students come from rural area and mostly belong to the deprived caste and class categories. In such circumstances it’s the responsibility of the department to fulfil the need of such students so that they can groom themselves in critically appreciating literature and cultural issues and support them in their intellectual search. The department is also responsible to provide an active and productive academic ambience to our students through regular interaction, online contents (ICT facilities), lectures, seminars and other forms of intellectual exposures in order to support them in achieving academic, professional and moral elevation.

The department engages students with several activities. These are following-

1. Interactive engagement with students through audio- visual mode and ppt presentation.
2. Enriching students’ spoken skill through newspaper reading and short conversation sessions.
3. Arranging movie sittings and listening to news channels in English to enhance their listening skill.
4. Encouraging students to perform in English in various programmes arranged in college compound.
5. Arranging lectures and seminars annually to keep our students updated with latest developments in literally and intellectual fields.
